Description 3-Methylglutaryl-L-carnitine-(methyl-[13C,d3]) hydrochloride is intended for use as an internal standard for 3-Me-Glutaryl Carnitine. 3-Methylglutarylcarnitine is derived from DL-Carnitine Benzyl Ester Chloride, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of 3-Hydroxybutyrylcarnitine Hydrochloride. 3-Me-Glutaryl Carnitine metabolite may be found in urine samples. The detection of 3-methylglutarylcarnitine and other metabolites may play a role in the treatment strategy for carnitine deficiency.
